Journal of Materials Research Special Issue 2021

Continuing a long-standing tradition of outstanding special issues in the field of nanoindentation, the famous series that already took place in 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2012 was recently complemented by another focus issue on advanced nanomechanical testing in the prestigious Journal of Materials Research (JMR) under the auspices of the Materials Research Society (MRS).

Verena Maier-Kiener (Chair of Physical Metallurgy and Metallic Materials) acted as guest editor, in concert with the international colleagues Benoit Merle (FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg), Timothy Rupert (UC Irvine) and George Pharr (Texas A&M).

The issue was very successful, and due to the large number of excellent contributions, including strong representation from Montanuniversitaet Leoben (MUL) scientists via an invited publication by M. Burtscher et al. and three regular articles by C. Saringer et al., J. Kappacher et al. and M. Alfreider et al., the special issue even had to be been split into two full journal issues. These are still accessible for free following the following links (valid until September 6, 2021):
