Contract research

The chairs of Functional Materials and Material Systems as well as Design of Steels have a unique portfolio of equipment and expertise which they utilize for fundamental and applied research. This know-how is now also available to industrial companies ranging from small businesses to large corporations and research partners within the framework of contract research. Chemical analyses, microstructural investigations and phase characterization of macroscopic samples down to the submicroscopic range are offered in both fields - structural materials as well as functional coatings. Combined with a wide variety of mechanical characterization methods, structure-property relationships can hence be derived. In addition, failure analysis and development of functional coatings are part of the scope of our work.
