New Chair of IUVSTA’s new Sustainability Division

Nina Schalk elected Chair of IUVSTA’s new Sustainability Division

Nina Schalk has been elected to serve as Chair of the newly founded Sustainability Division of the International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications (IUVSTA) for the triennium 2026 - 2029. The IUVSTA is an international federation of thirty national vacuum organizations, comprising nine divisions with members nominated by the national society and the divisional committee elected from this body. Its mission is to provide a global platform for the promotion, dissemination and education on vacuum science, technique and applications. The establishment of the Sustainability Division reflects the growing importance of sustainability in science and technology, acknowledging that future advances in vacuum science and related fields must increasingly be aligned with sustainable practices and goals. As Chair, Nina Schalk will play a leading role in shaping the division’s agenda, fostering international collaboration, and promoting sustainable approaches across research and applications.
