On July 1, 2025, Christian Mitterer handed over the management of our department to his successor, Daniel Kiener. On behalf of all employees and all persons and institutions associated with the department, we would like to thank Prof. Mitterer for his many years of tireless service.
Christian Mitterer headed the Department of Physical Metallurgy and Materials Testing at the Montanuniversität Leoben from 2016 to 2019 and took over as head of the Department of Materials Science when it was founded in 2019. With prudence and competence, he mastered a multitude of challenging situations, from successful international evaluation processes and significant curriculum adjustments to the confident handling of the Covid pandemic.
His work has had a lasting impact on our department. We would like to express our sincere thanks to him and wish Daniel Kiener a successful start and a promising future.
