VACOM Sustainability Award for Lukas Kölbl

Lukas Kölbl from the Chair of Functional Materials and Material Systems was awarded second place of the VACOM Sustainability Award of the German Vacuum Society on June 3, 2025, for his recently completed doctoral thesis. This prize has been awarded since 2022 for outstanding theses by young scientists in the field of vacuum technology that incorporate the principles of sustainability. Lukas Kölbl's doctoral thesis dealt with the development of environmentally friendly, lead-free ceramic layers based on silver niobate for dielectric thin-film capacitors for energy storage. The prize was awarded at the Members' Contact Day of the German Vacuum Society at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
