Daniel Kiener takes over the role of the chairman of the Leoben Materials Science Association (Verein Leobener Werkstoffwissenschafter) from Ronald Schnitzer

Ronald Schnitzer took over the role as chairman of the Leoben Materials Science Association (Verein Leobener Werkstoffwissenschafter, VLW) from Helmut Clemens in 2017 and led it together with the students for five years. The VLW was founded for the purpose of promoting and maintaining contacts between students, professors, university employees and graduates in the field of Materials Science. This goal is pursued by holding various events, such as company get-togethers, excursions and festivals.

The farewell of the old chairman took place in the course of this year's well attended summer party of the association, which represented a cheerful closing of the academic year in the context of a barbecue with suckling pig. In the course of the general assembly and the election of the new board, Daniel Kiener from the Chair of Materials Physics was elected as new chairman and Elena Rusu as the new deputy chairwoman of the association.
