On January 17, 2023, a new CD lab entitled "Knowledge-based Design of Advanced Steels" was opened in the Department of Materials Science. The CDL is headed by Ronald Schnitzer and focuses on the effects of increased scrap use and the resulting increased amounts of undesirable tramp and trace elements on material properties. The research approach includes simulations and experimental methods, using cross-scale methods that start at the atomic structure.
In addition to the presentation of the content and objectives of the CDL, the numerous participants had the opportunity to listen to presentations by scientific cooperation partners and to round off the event with a pleasant networking event.
