1st prize of the Vehicle Association Anniversary Foundation 2023 to Michael Göbl

Michael Göbl was awarded the 1^st prize of the Vehicle Association Anniversary Foundation 2023 for his research achievements in the field of fenders for automotive applications. Michael Göbl's dissertation at the Chair of Physical Metallurgy dealt with the development of innovative concepts for civilian vehicles. The work was carried out in cooperation with the company voestalpine Böhler Bleche and involved the production of new types of steel composites for car bodies on small lab scale production. In addition to material characterization, the test also included ballistic impact testing. It was shown that these new types of steel composites, which have a hard outer and tougher inner layer, can achieve a high protective effect with thinner material thicknesses. The prize was awarded at a ceremony at TU Wien in June 2023.
