In 2017 Daniel Kiener was awarded with an ERC Consolidator Grant, a testament of scientific excellence and highly regarded among all fields of pioneering research in Europe. Recently, he also received an ERC Proof of Concept grant. Starting this May, this initiates a new phase of research, focusing not only on further refinement and innovation of concepts developed under an ERC grant, but also on transitioning towards practical applications.
The ERC Proof of Concept grant BulkNanoWe2 will facilitate venturing beyond the foundational research conducted in the TOUGHIT project, into application-oriented material concepts and large-scale synthesis routes, with a continued optimization of interface design in nanostructured metals.
By venturing into this new chapter, Daniel Kiener further pushes the boundaries of advanced nanostructured metallic materials. With this grant as a catalyst, the team is set to translate their pioneering research into tangible solutions, offering potential applications across multiple industries.
